Alice in Dairyland...Humbled Again!

I wish every one of my blog entries did not have to start with I am so sorry but unfortunately they do. So...here it is ...I am so sorry for not making regular entries! There...that was painless.
If you listen to KFIZ you may have heard I received the Friend of Alice Award on Saturday evening at the 2007 Alice in Dairyland finals in Eau Claire. Several people told me I seemed as moved as Nicole Reese did upon the presentation. The truth is, I have such a deep respect for agriculture I am truly humbled beyond words when I am recognized for something as special as supporting the Alice in Dairyland program in Wisconsin. Part of the reason I follow the Alice and State Fairest of the Fair programs so closely is because of my 4-H background. That interest has been augmented with my contact with the FFA program and all of the Jr State Breed organizations.
I believe the Alice program and the State Fairest of the Fair contest is where the rubber meets the road when it comes to knowing if the 4-H and FFA programs are doing a good job. For anyone sitting in that room on Saturday evening I don't thing there should be any question as to the effectiveness of these programs in question.
There were 5 finalists. Two of them were past State Fairest of the Fairs, one was a past State FFA President, one was past State Holstein Princess and one was a past State Jersey Queen. They all have 4-H and/or FFA backgrounds. I know I say this on the air but I want to make it very clear again, although these girls are all very beautiful, all of these positions are very up scale public relations jobs in their various circles.
In closing...I want to thank Nicole Reese for selecting me for the Friend of Alice Award and Congratulations to Jill Makovec on becoming Wisconsin's 60th Alice in Dairyland. I look forward to working with you this year
Until next time...
